NVQ Site Management Cost: What You Pay and How to Spread It

How much does a site management NVQ cost?

A construction management NVQ costs between £1,645 and £2,295 plus VAT if you pay in full.

Paid monthly, that works out from £197.40 a month including VAT. Plans run up to 12 months on most qualifications and up to 10 months on the ones starting at £1,645.

There is no interest, no credit check and no finance company. Approval is instant.

The exact figure depends on which qualification matches your role. Management NVQs sit at Level 6 and Level 7, and some have different pathways within them. All of them sit inside the range above, and every qualification page shows its own price and monthly figure.

Why the price is what it is

An NVQ is not a course. You are not paying for classroom hours or a textbook. You are paying for:

Registration with the awarding organisation
A dedicated assessor, who for management qualifications is a chartered member of the CIOB
Assessment planning built around your current job
Professional discussions, evidence review and gap analysis
The build of your assessment portfolio, which we do for you
Internal quality assurance and the achievement claim to the awarding body

All of that is human hours. Your assessor, the quality assurance team and the office staff behind the paperwork put in a significant amount of time on every single candidate, and that is what the fee covers. There are no exam fees, because there are no exams.

Why paying up front is the real problem

Most managers we speak to can afford the qualification. What they cannot always do is release two thousand pounds in one go, or in two or three large chunks, while a mortgage, a vehicle and a family are also being paid for.

Three instalments of around £800 is still a heavy month, three times over. That is usually the point where the qualification gets put off for another year, and the card and the roles that need it get put off with it.

How the payment plan works

You start the qualification by paying the first monthly instalment, which is roughly a tenth or a twelfth of the total. You do not need to cover the full fee before your registration with the awarding organisation goes through, and your assessment begins straight away.

Interest-free. Twelve payments come to exactly the same total as paying in full. Nothing is added for spreading it.
Nothing to sign and no credit check. There is no finance company and no application to fill in. You choose the plan at checkout and it starts there and then.
You choose the length. Anything from a single payment up to the maximum for your qualification. A shorter plan means larger payments.
Your plan is not tied to your assessment. Most candidates finish the assessment well before the final instalment.
No hidden fees. The price on the qualification page is the price you pay.

If your qualification is ready while you are still paying, you can settle the balance and receive the certificate immediately, or wait for the final instalment, or apply for Early Certificate Release so you can use the certificate while the remaining payments continue.

The fee is also a one-off. The qualification itself does not expire, so this is not a cost that comes back around.

What can bring the cost down

CITB grant. Most of our Level 6 management qualifications are CITB grant claimable, up to £600 for CITB-registered employers. Availability is shown in the key facts table on each qualification page.

Employer contribution. Many contractors cover the fee in full or split it with the employee, because the card requirement sits on them as much as on you. It is worth asking before you self-fund.

VAT. If you or your company are VAT registered, the VAT element is usually reclaimable, which brings the real cost back to the price excluding VAT.

Mentorship is available as an optional package for £500. If you are missing the management systems, procedures or documentation needed to evidence certain criteria, your assessor also works as a mentor: showing you what the industry expects, where to source it, and how to put it in place across your projects. You improve how your projects run and generate your evidence at the same time.

Your CSCS card and the Managerial and Professional HS&E test are arranged directly with CSCS and CITB, so those sit outside the NVQ price.
