To achieve this NVQ, you must show you can carry out installation work safely and to specification. The tasks below apply to all endorsements, though some specifics will depend on your chosen endorsement.

- Identify hazards in the work area and follow site rules, RAMS, and PPE requirements.
- Use safe manual handling techniques for heavy units, panels, or equipment.
- Protect floors, surfaces, and client property during installation.

•Preparing and setting out
- Read and follow drawings, plans, specifications, and manufacturer instructions.
- Check levels, walls, and services before starting work.
- Mark out positions for units, panels, or equipment.
- Coordinate with other trades for plumbing, electrical, or mechanical connections if required.

•Installing units, furniture, or equipment
- Assemble and fix units, panels, or carcasses according to your endorsement.
- Kitchen fitter: base units, wall units, tall units, worktops, integrated appliances.
- Bathroom fitter: vanities, cabinets, wall panels, and sanitary units.
- Educational furniture fitter: desks, storage units, modular classroom furniture.
- Furniture installer: free-standing or built-in furniture, shelving, wardrobes.
- Commercial kitchen equipment fitter: installation of commercial ovens, fridges, counters, and heavy equipment.
- Level, align, and secure units, ensuring consistent gaps and finish.
- Install doors, drawers, hinges, handles, and other fittings.
- Assemble and fix units, panels, or carcasses according to your endorsement.

•Worktops, panels, or equipment finishing
- Cut, scribe, and fit panels, worktops, or surfaces to specification.
- Join edges and seal gaps where required.
- Fit accessories, trims, and finishing components.
- Carry out adjustments for doors, drawers, or moving parts to ensure smooth operation.

•Quality and handover
- Check all work against drawings and specifications.
- Ensure installations are secure, aligned, and fully functional.
- Report defects, missing components, or issues promptly.
- Leave the area clean and safe for client handover.
You need practical evidence (from current or previous projects) showing your installation work. Relevant may evidence include:
- Site photos of units, panels, worktops, furniture, or equipment being installed and finished.
- Job sheets or work diaries recording the tasks you carried out.
- Plans, layouts, or manufacturer drawings used for your work.
- Delivery notes showing components, furniture, or equipment supplied.
- Method statements or risk assessments followed on site.
- Toolbox talks or inductions attended.
- Witness statements from supervisors, managers, or clients confirming your competence.
- Short video diaries of assembling or fitting units, panels, or equipment (if allowed).
- Snag lists or quality checks completed or contributed to.
